… DD&D aka David David And David was a collective of concept and ideas between David Irish (Herbologist), David Ray Harriott (Forager) and David Michael Cain O’Dougherty (Aromatherapist) “me”. I call David-Ray the Weedologist because he studies weeds and wild edibles, but he prefers forager. To learn more, click here. I originally met David Irish through his herb shop in Independence, Mo. around 2007, we both lived in Independence at the time. I later met David-Ray through David Irish, while I was at Dave’s Herb Shop one day. I don’t remember how David-Ray and I became friends; but he was also friends with several other friends of mine within the hippie, natural health and alternative community in and around Kansas City.
After my divorce in 2012, I decided to go OffGrid. I met another guy, Jeff DeTrick, whom I met through David Irish; that brought me to Cedar County. I joined Jeff’s community and started helping him with his projects. In 2013; David-Rat contacted me, for he was being kicked off the family farm. I believed his sob story; and with Jeffs permission, I brought him down as well.
What i knew at the time, was that David-Ray was getting kicked off the farm because they had found him with kiddie porn. David-Rays story was; that his new step dad set him up, so that he could get rid of David-Ray, so that the step dad could get the family farm. David Irish said that David-Ray was honest to a fault, so I naturally believed David-Rays side of the story.
Not long after that; we had a falling out with Jeff DeTrick, and we learned that his whole community project was a scam. Parties in a Land Contract, LLC which is owned by Jef DeTrick and Frank Kanan. Jeff was a self proclaimed inventor, amongst other things; but i never saw any evidence of said inventions. We were supposed to be working on building a sustainable community, but DeTrick was obsessed with this so-called Psychic Buried Treasure Hunt; so all the assets ended up going to him and this hunt. He’d been searching for 20 years before we came down; he’s still looking in 2026, and still has yet to find anything.
Anyway; in 2013 I had recently acquired a new relationship, so I moved in with her. We networked and found George and Valarie; they had a farm in Collins, so we moved David-Ray and his animals there.
In 2014; David-Ray got kicked off George and Valarie’s, and moved into Ian Diamonds place in Caplinger Mills, Mo. I eventually got my own land in Stockton in 2015; then David-Ray moved there with his animals, after we got some amenities set up.
We hadn’t accomplished much; we were supposed to be working on a sustainable community, but I was an over the road truck driver, and David-Ray basically did nothing while I was out earning the money to finance the whole operation.
In 2017; David-Ray abandoned me and all the animals, to go live in Bill and Shirleys greenhouse. They codled him, cooked for him and took care of him like a child; where i didn’t. I expected him to do his part; do what he said he could and would do, acked like the adult he was and not like a 6 year old. Dude is 10 years older than me, and still wants a mommy and daddy to take care of him.
That didn’t last long… About a year later, he got kicked out of their greenhouse; so I bought the materials for him to build a greenhouse on my land… and he moved into there.
in 2019, we finally got the closest to having a sustainable community then ever. We joined forces with another community, that also turned out to be a scam; so all their people came to our land. We also acquired three others through different avenues. Eventually they all petered out as well. They all had their pros and cons; either they couldn’t get along with one another, or they didn’t want to contribute, or both.
In 2022, David-Ray and I finally had our falling out. I realize now, I should have never took him back in 2018; or not at all to begin with. David Irish never did join us, because his wife didn’t like David-Ray. Turns out, David-Ray had a whole host of problems, and I ended up having to clean up the mess of the fallout; not to mention the smear campaign he did against me. But narcissists will do that. That’s ok; I did 100x better on my own, after I got rid of him. I’ve only lost one goat since he’s been gone; before, I lost almost all of them. He is a worthless eater.
So the DD&D project has been a bust. I am no longer doing the Farmstay/Workstay Sustainable Community. The DD&D project is being retired. I am now regrouping, I am rebranding. You can find me and my new girlfriend at Farm237.com
